Silver Denarius - Æ 22-24 mm - 3 grams - Die axis 12:00- Struck AD 240-242 - RIC 91 - Missing a piece & partly broken.
1. IMP GORDIA[NVS PIVS FEL AVG] (Imperator Gordianus Pius Felix Augustus - Imp. G. the Pious, Happy Augustus).
Bust of radiate boy-emperor, facing right, draped and cuirassed. Viewed from rear.
2. PM TRP IIII COS II PP (Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestas Tertius, Consulares Secundus, Pater Patriae - Highest Priest, Holder of the Tribunician Power for the 4th Time, Consul for the 2nd Time, Father of the Country). Emperor standing and facing right, cuirassed, wearing Padulamentum. Holding spear in front arm and upholding orb with hand of back arm.
The last part of the Obverse legend is there but has been reduced to scribbles.

Obv. : Worn - Rev. : Worn - Piece missing from 12:00 to 02:00 & Piece glued at 02:00 to 04:00.
