Gordian III, the grandson of Gordian I and nephew of Gordian II. Emperor in 238 at around 13 yrs old. His reign closely matched his predecessor (Severus Alexander) : both start (too) young, and get praised for their mild rule. His Praetorian Prefect Timesitheus proved to be an able administrator (in his name ?). However Timesitheus fell ill and died in 243. His successor was Philip, an Arab, who cleverly turned the mood of the soldiers on the Persian campaign against their young Emperor. They murdered him while he begged Philip for his life. Philip was proclaimed Emperor in 244.
