Florianus
Marcus Annius Florianus
(AD 2xx - 276)

Florianus Concordia Militum
1. Front 2. Back
Bronze Aurelianianus - Æ 20-21 mm - 2,59 grams - Die axis 12:00.
1. IMP C M AN FLORIANVS P AVG (Imperator Caesar Marcus Annius Florianus Pius Augustus).
Cuirassed and radiate bust of bearded emperor facing right.
2. CONCORD MILIT (Concordia Militum - Harmony/Unity with the Soldiers).
Emperor, standing at left, radiate, extensively draped. Shaking hands with Concordia, crowned, standing at right, in Stola.
Florianus was praetorian prefect and maybe (half-)brother of Tacitus, and his emperorial career was even faster than his predecessor. Probus' claim to power put an end to his and him. He was murdered by his own men in June at Tarsus having assumed office in may. Coinage was continued after his murder until 09 or 10.276.
Serdica started as S during Aurelian but still low in production around this time. Dealer mentioned mint KHΔ. Though where the KHΔ must be found is a riddle to me. This coin is possibly not mentioned in RIC. As said minted in Serdica.

Obv. : Good - Rev. : Not too bad but low profile.
