Popular governor of Aquitania when assuming 'the honours', Tetricus was of one of the leading families of Gaul popular. Able military commander.
In early AD 274 emperor Aurelian battled him at Campi Catalaunii (Châlons-sur-marne) where Tetricus and his son surrendered. There have always been suggestions of agreements between Tetricus and Aurelian prior to the battle. Maybe Tetricus had gotten afraid of his own court's ambitions.
Aurelian rewarded him with the post of governor of Lucania, where he lived peacefully to a ripe old age. Also his son, the young Tetricus, who had been Caesar and heir to the Gallic empire, was not killed but granted senatorial rank (Which gave them 'Pax Avg' in the end).

Probably minted in Trier, mint 1.
