GENIO IMP-E-RATORIS (Genio Imperatoris - Genius Of The Emperor).
Genius standing full front facing left. Modius on head, naked but for Chlamys over left shoulder, right hand pouring with Patera. In left arm a Cornucopia. Under the phiale a star is shining (coins with a fire-pot under the
phiale also exist). A • (dot) after the IMPERATORIS. |

Probably ‘•HTΓ’, dot - HT = Heraclea (Eregli, Turkey); Γ = 3rd Officina. Heraclea was 'in business' after 291. If this coin is RIC 37a then it was struck AD 308-309. There is another similar issue for AD 309-310 with no pellets in mintmark. From Galerius' reign as Augustus. |

The tetrarchs sometimes have very similar and confusing names - in this case : 'IMP C GAL VAL MAXIMIANVS PF AVG" - easily confused with the by-then retired Maximian - Galerius had been his protege and so used a very similar official name.
Obv. : Worn - Rev. : Good on parts, Worn in others.
