Head of Alexander the Great assimilated to Heracles facing right, wearing lion skin covering practically all of his hair. Lion skin is knotted at base of neck (lower right).
2 AΛEΞANΔPOY (Alexandroy - Of Alexander).
Zeus seated on chair facing left, upper body turned towards holder, nude to waist, slightly reclining. Holding eagle in out-stretched right arm and with left arm leaning on long scepter. Text vertically, center directed, at Zeus' right. At far left a star and at far right a spear head. These are the mint city marks (see below).
This type of coin was started in Alex's lifetime and continued long after his death. Determination of my coin was very kindly done by mr. Reid Goldsborough. Thanks !
