Nero Genio Augusti
1. Front 2. Back
Bronze As - Æ 25-27 mm - 9,5 grams - Die Axis 03:00 - RIC 219 - Struck about AD 64.
1. NERO CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG GER P M TR P IMP P P (N.C. Caesar Augustus Germanicus Pontifex Maximus (Highest Priest) Tribunicia Potestas (Holder of the Tribunician Power) Imperator Pater Patriae (Father of the Country)). The head of the laureate boss facing right.
2. GENIO AVGVST(I) (Genio Augusti - Genius of the Augustii).
Genius standing, barely clothed, full front, facing left. Holding Cornucopia with left arm and with his right arm holding a Patera with offering above an altar. No SC recognizable, but the S from the S C is probably just under his wrist, the C level with this but in the right field.
The only one listed with any of these legends and this reverse is RIC 219, with legend 46 – not 100 % proof though. (45: GER P M TR P IMP P, 46: GER P M TR P IMP P P, 47: GERM P M TR P IMP P, 48: GERM P M TR P IMP P P). Minted in Rome.

Obv. : Good - Rev. : Good - On both sides patina and legend have been severely damaged.
