Bronze - Æ 20-23 mm - 6,2 grams - Die Axis 12:00.
1. CO-L TRO (Colonia (Alexandreia Augusta) Troad).
Draped bust of Tyche wearing her turreted crown, facing right. Vexillum at her left behind her. In the Vexillum the text AV L. Possibly combining AV & AL and so completing the full city name.
2. COL AV[GV] (Colonia (Alexandreia) Augusta).
Wolf on its four legs, rightwards. Tucking head under her to check for the two sucking twins (Romulus and Remus) who are between her legs upholding their arms, drinking her milk.
2.b TRO (Troas)
Now called Eski Stambul, on the Aegean coast opposite Tenedos island, 20 km south of Troy. Became the chief port of north-west Asia Minor, because of it's early on (artificial). Alexandria Troas was founded as Antigioneia, by Antigonos I Monophthalmos at about 310 BC. Its inhabitants were relocated ones from nearby cities. Expanded by Lysimachos and renamed Alexandr(e)ia in honour of Alexander the Great. The devastating defeat of Antiochos III of Syria by the Romans at the battle of Magnesia in 189 BC resulted in Alexandria´s pseudo-autonomy. The city remained prosperous well into Roman Times. In Roman times its full name was Colonia Alexandria Augusta Troas.
