About the wolf not much is known of the reason (s)he stands like this. (S)he is either
growling and in an aggressive & defensive position or showing submissiveness by bowing to
whomever. Is it the wolf that fed Romulus and Remulus ? We cannot quite distinguish that it
is feeding female. And finally : maybe everybody said this is a wolf, but are we sure ?
Oh and p.s. : to make matters worse : AD 98 is 850 years after the founding of Rome ...
